The Veil
The Veil
Overview
The Veil is widely recognized across Eonil as a mysterious, magical force. It is commonly described as a barrier separating the waking world from the spiritual realm. Though its true nature remains elusive, most agree that the Veil plays a crucial role in maintaining the separation between life and the afterlife.
Nature and Beliefs
The Veil is deeply connected to the dream state, ethereal phenomena, and the mysteries of the afterlife. Many believe that it is the Veil which keeps spirits and the spirit world apart from the world of the living. It is said to be a subtle, ever-present boundary—one that cannot be seen or touched, but is always there.
Dying and the Veil
When someone dies on Eonil their spirit needs to cross through the Veil to get to the spirit world. This is commonly done by performing burial rights. Burial rights are seen as a proper way to make sure the spirit gets properly guided through the Veil and does not get trapped in the Veil or linger on Eonil in the form of a ghost.
The Night of the Veil
One of the most widely held beliefs is that on the Night of the Veil, this magical barrier becomes thinnest. During this rare event, the spirit world is said to draw very close to the mortal realm, and the boundaries between the two worlds almost blend together. Encounters with spirits and supernatural phenomena are thought to be most likely during this time.
In Summary
The Veil remains one of Eonil’s greatest mysteries. It is an ever-present force, shaping the relationship between the waking world and the spirit world, and is at the heart of many legends about dreams, spirits, and the afterlife.
