Treants

Treants

Children of Eonil – Wardens of the Ancient Woods

Origins

Treants were the living trees, guardians of the oldest groves and clearings. If Fauns were the music of the forest, Treants were its strength and memory. They walked slowly, but when roused, they were the wrath of the forest itself.

Nature

  • Towering, tree-shaped beings, bark for skin, roots for feet.

  • Eyes glowing like embers, voices like groaning timbers.

  • Solitary guardians, but when danger threatened, they gathered in terrible force.

Fall

Like the others, Treants vanished in the early Age of Darkness. Their vast forms became still, and the groves grew silent. In some places, dead giant trees are said to be the husks of Treants who fell defending their woods.

Fifth Era Memory

  • Villagers speak of single massive trees as “fallen Treants” and never cut their wood.

  • Offerings are left at the base of such trees when passing through the forest.

  • Hunters say: “If you hear the groaning of timber in a still forest, turn back.”
